Manon Damiens

Manon Damiens is a metal sculptor and a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art. Daughter of an actress, it is first on the theater stage that the young woman made her first steps, little hand among the costume designers and the scenographers. She discovered metal later, at the Olivier-de-Serres school. It was love at first sight for this material. But it is only ten years later, after having worked as a casual entertainment worker in Paris and then as a jewellery designer with Tuareg blacksmiths in Niger – a technique that can be found today in her creations – that the evidence imposes itself on her: the future will be written on metal.

Fascinated by the work of Alexander Calder, the artist is constantly seeking to make this material light and airy, in movement. Exhibited in the park and inside the castle of Charleval, her poetic sculptures, delicate, mobile, and sometimes even musical when touched with a feather, are inspired by nature in a play of waves and undulations.

Château Charleval accueille l’exposition « Seasons of heaven », qui réunit les deux artistes, Aurélia Rocher et Joanna Cutri. Céramiques et toiles contemporaines se répondent et questionnent notre lien à la Mémoire et la Nature.
